Definition: Canary channel


(1) A distribution channel for software that has yet to be released to the general public. The Canary channel enables users to try out new products. See canary build.

(2) A distribution channel for Chromebook users who are willing to download and install any pre-release version of the ChromeOS. Called a Canary version, it has new features that were only tested internally. See alpha test, canary build and Chromebook.
