(Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998) A federal law that became effective in 2000 regarding the online collection of personal information about children up to and including age 12. Expected in 2024, the Kids Online Safety and Privacy Act (KOSPA) is another bill that incorporates COPPA and extends the age to 15.
