There are three ways to export text from CDE to your word processor. Note that pictures cannot be exported.
1. Copy screen text to clipboard.
2. Copy text of entire definition to clipboard.
3. Export text for saving or printing.
1. Copy Screen Text to Clipboard
To copy any part of the text that is visible on screen in the current text window, highlight the text and release the mouse button. The selected text will be displayed in a window. Then click COPY TO CLIPBOARD and paste into your word processor. Be sure to highlight at least one full line of text, otherwise a short selection will be considered hypertext and CDE will try to look up the term rather than copy it.
2. Copy Text of Entire Definition to the Clipboard
To copy the text of an entire definition that is more than one screenful, look up the term or scroll to the line in the text where you want to start and click the CAPTURE button. All the text from the top of the text window to the end of the definition will be displayed in a window. Then click COPY TO CLIPBOARD and paste into your word processor.
3. Export Text for Saving or Printing
To save or print the text of one or more definitions, you can accumulate them in a text file named CDETEXT.TXT that you can import into your word processor.
To copy the text of a definition, look up the term or scroll to the line in the text where you want to start capturing and click APPEND TO CDETEXT.TXT. All the text from the top of the text window to the end of the definition will be added at the end of CDETEXT.TXT. To start a new file (with the same name), select FILE/ERASE CDETEXT.TXT.
CDETEXT.TXT is saved in the CDE application folder. To save it in a different folder, select FILE/CDETXT.TXT PATH.
