Definition: brick

An electronic device that has been damaged or purposely incapacitated. A bricked device can be due to a hardware or software failure, or it can be intentionally altered to prevent some action. The assumption is "the device is now as useful as a brick." However, it would not be advisable to use that term with a professional bricklayer! See iBricking.

Brick Your Device
Used in conjunction with the Brick app, this appropriately named NFC-enabled device is used to disable access to selected phone apps. For example, at work, all apps may be allowed, but after work, tapping the phone on the Brick will prevent preselected apps from sending notifications. See NFC. (Image courtesy of Brick LLC.)
