(1) The Mac app that organizes music, starting with macOS Catalina (see below).
(2) Apple's music streaming service introduced in 2015. Apple Music lets subscribers listen to their own music collection along with millions of tracks in the Apple Music Library. Siri was updated to take music requests. iTunes Radio became part of Apple Music with some changes in station programming, and live broadcasts from the Beats 1 channel were added (Apple acquired Beats Music and Beats Electronics in 2014). The Connect feature that enabled artists to share photos, videos and lyrics with their fans was dropped in 2018.
Apple Music App Replaced iTunes on Catalina
In 2019, starting with macOS Catalina, three programs (Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Podcasts) replaced the iTunes app used to organize media on Macs. However, there was no replacement software for Windows users who use iTunes until 2024 (see
