Definition: Aplio/Phone
An earlier Internet telephony appliance from Aplio, Inc., San Bruno, CA that required the device at both ends of the call. A call was first made via the PSTN; then their respective ISPs were dialed up, and using Aplio's own directory servers, the connection was established via the Internet. For predetermined calls, the PSTN was not necessary. In 2000, Aplio was acquired by Net2Phone.
