A feature in Apple devices that enables printing directly to an AirPrint-compatible printer via Wi-Fi. Introduced in 2010 for iOS and 2011 for Mac OS X, AirPrint was designed for local wireless printing, not over the Internet as with Google's Cloud Print. Third-party software enables both Mac and Windows machines to print on non-AirPrint printers. Contrast with
Google Cloud Print and
HP ePrint.
