An AI program that generates a relatively short video from text descriptions. In the 2020s time frame, text-to-video generators followed on the heels of text-to-image generators.
Some AI video generators accept text for each scene, while others generate a video based on a short text description similar to AI image generators. There are several generators on the market, but when Meta Platforms (Facebook) announced its Make-A-Video offering in 2022, more people became aware of the process.
For scene-by-scene generators, various amounts of customization are provided such as backgrounds, fonts, colors, resolutions and aspect ratios. Both free and paid versions are typically available, although some paid-only generators are aimed at enterprises.
Revenge Videos
Unfortunately, many people use video generators to make political statements that may be totally erroneous. They are also used for revenge videos by placing the face of someone on a naked body engaged in sex or on a person doing something outrageous or even illegal. See

Just to Talk
In this example, a plain background was selected and the woman is speaking with simulated mouth movements synchronized to the text. Unfortunately, too many generated videos use the faces and bodies of prominent people who are made to say anything and everything. (Image courtesy of Reals.ai.)
A Phenaki Video
The Phenaki generator offers a variety of text-to-video options. In this example from the Phenaki website, the selection of "cartoon on Mars with earth in the background" produced these scenes which are animated on the Web page. (Image courtesy of Phenaki.video.)
