Definition: AI browser

A Web browser with built-in intelligent assistant capabilities. An AI browser should be able to summarize a website and answer questions about it. It may be able to function like an AI agent and book a hotel room. Taking user history into account, an AI browser might be capable of tailoring recommendations and making personal suggestions.

Microsoft's AI Copilot is integrated into its Edge browser, and Chrome, Brave and Opera have added AI functionality. In 2025, Perplexity introduced the AI-based Comet browser and OpenAI added a browser to ChatGPT (see Comet browser and ChatGPT Atlas).

AI browsers may offer voice recognition to save typing and provide more efficient tracker and ad blocking. To remain competitive, all Web browsers must build in AI to some degree. See AI chatbot.

AD Add-Ons
Users running Chromium browsers such as Chrome and Edge can add AI capabilties by going to the Chrome Web Store. See Chromium.
