A 24-bit digital music sample taken 96,000 times per second. This is a standard format for downloadable high-definition music, equivalent to the sampling rate of DVD-Audio. See

A 96/24 Example
This illustration from Sony shows how the 96/24 designation is used in an audio example. In this case, the 96/24 clearly states that the 96 is the sampling frequency in Hertz, and the 24 is the sampling size in bits (see
sampling).
