Definition: 8mm film
Motion picture film. The standard 8mm film was launched in 1932 by Eastman Kodak, providing a more affordable format than Kodak's 16mm film, which debuted in 1923.
Super 8 and Single-8
In 1965, Super 8 came out with a sound track, which greatly enhanced its use. Super 8 film required a Super 8 projector. In that same year, a Single-8 film format from Fuji debuted that could be used in Super 8 projectors but not Super 8 cameras, and the film could also be rewound in the projector.
