The 1920x1080 "interlaced" HDTV format. The majority of HD cable and satellite TV programs are delivered in 1080i resolution, while other HD programs are broadcast in 720p. The 1080-line formats provide the maximum lines of resolution in the HDTV standard; however, interlaced 1080i delivers an image that is not quite as sharp as progressive 1080p, especially when rendering fast motion.
