Definition: smart browsing

Web browser enhancements that help the user obtain the desired results. Starting around the turn of the century, the browser automatically added the http:// prefix and the .com domain name to the URL. Other features include automatic completion of the URL based on site visit history (see auto complete). A major improvement added later was the use of a single search box for both the website URL and search engine query. See smart.
