Definition: drop shadow
A graphics effect that makes elements look more three-dimensional and "pop out" of the picture. The Gaussian Blur filter is widely used to create this effect. Using an image editor, a duplicate of the text is made, changed to black or gray and then passed through the filter. The blurred result is aligned under the original text to create the effect. Titles such as these are often done with a drop shadow to give them more of a 3D effect.
