Definition: client platform


The computer and operating system that people use at home and in the office. For example, the "Windows client platform" refers to x86 hardware and a client version of Windows, such as Windows 7, 8 or 10. The Mac client platform includes the Mac hardware and macOS operating system. The Linux client platform is generally an x86-based machine running a version of Linux. Contrast with server platform.
