(Audio Video/Information Technology) A reference to audio and video content in digital form. In the past, AV signals were always analog. For example, telephone audio was transmitted as an electrical analog of sound waves. The original video signals were analog and transmitted over analog cable channels (see NTSC). See AoIP.
