Definition: Superbase


A relational database management (DBMS) and client/server application development system for Windows from Superbase Developers, Inc., Huntington, NY. Superbase includes a database that supports a variety of multimedia types, an object-based Super Basic Language similar to Visual Basic and a suite of visual programming tools. It supports the major SQL databases as well as ODBC-compliant databases.

Superbase has been widely used worldwide. It was originally created in 1984 by Precision Software for the Commodore Amiga and Atari ST. In 1989, it was the first DBMS to run on a Windows computer.
