Definition: English Wizard

A natural language query program from EasyAsk, a division of Progress Software, Bedford, Massachusetts that can access any SQL-based database. English Wizard was authored by Dr. Larry Harris, founder of EasyAsk, and a long-time expert in database systems and computerized natural language. English Wizard's information retrieval technology is a core component of the EasyAsk Enterprise 10 suite of products that go beyond the desktop or network environment. The software operates extensively in site search queries and in OEM embedded systems. Progress acquired EasyAsk in 2005 and retained its well-known brand.

A Natural Language Example
English Wizard generated the SQL code in the window at the bottom from the English sentence at the top. It is amazing how much SQL is necessary to ask what looks like a simple question. (Screenshot courtesy of EasyAsk Inc.)
