Definition: ATI


(ATI Technologies Inc., Markham Ontario) A leading manufacturer of graphics chips and adapters, which was acquired by AMD in 2006. Founded in 1985 by K. Y. Ho, Benny Lau and Lee Lau, ATI chips and boards are widely used by OEMs. In 1997, ATI acquired the graphics design assets of Tseng Labs, Newtown, PA. Tseng employees and the Newtown facility became the ATI Research division. ATI brands such as Radeon, FireGL, RAGE, XPERT and Mach have been known throughout the world. See Radeon.
